Jin Young Ko's record equalling, wire-to-wire win

Jin Young Ko finished off a wire-to-wire victory Sunday in the Cognizant Founders Cup with her 14th consecutive round in the 60s that matched a 16-year record held by Annika Sorenstam.

Even in a steady rain at Mountain Ridge, the 26-year-old South Korean star made it look easy. She closed with a 5-under 66 for a four-shot victory over Caroline Masson of Germany.

Ko started the final round with a four-shot lead and no one got closer than three all day.  Read more

Jin Young Ko didn't only leave New Jersey with her second straight Founders Cup title, but she now shares a record with one of the greats.

The 26-year-old world number two carded a five-under closing 66 to reach the legendary Swede's mark of 14 successive rounds in the 60s, set in 2005.

That might be all it takes to win the Founders Cup, too.

Ko picked up her fourth birdie on the par-5 16th and closed with two pars for a 2-under 69, giving her a four-shot lead Saturday at Mountain Ridge as she tries to win for the third time this year.  Read more

Day Two: Jin Young Ko Leads as play is suspended

For the second consecutive day, fog wreaked havoc at the 2021 Cognizant Founders Cup. A dense morning blanket caused a 2½-hour delay on Friday, causing play to ultimately be suspended due to darkness at 6:18 p.m. with 63 players (all but the first group off No. 10) still to finish their rounds. Second-round play will resume Saturday at 7:15 a.m., with the third round beginning no earlier than 10:30 a.m.

First-round leader Jin Young Ko still sits atop the leaderboard at -10, with four holes left to finish on Saturday morning. Starting Friday at No. 10, she followed a bogey at No. 17 with birdies at 18, 2 and 3 to sit -2 on her round when play was suspended.  Read more

Jin Young Ko had a three-stroke lead with four holes left Friday when second-round play in the LPGA Tour’s Cognizant Founders Cup was suspended because of darkness.

Play was delayed 2 1/2 hours at the start because of fog, the second straight day that fog forced a late start at Donald Ross-designed Mountain Ridge. Sixty-three players were unable to finish.  Read more

World number two Ko had matched her career-low round with an eight-under par 63 on Thursday that gave her a three-shot edge over Germany's Sandra Gal when darkness fell on the opening day at Mountain Ridge Country Club in New Jersey.

On Friday, when dense morning fog caused another delay of more than two hours, she had a bogey and three birdies in her first 14 holes and at 10-under par was three ahead of three players on seven-under.  Read more

Celine Boutier, Victory in NJ follows win in France

Just two weeks ago Celine Boutier won the Lacoste Ladies Open de France, in dramatic fashion, saving her best till last. Now, she has achieved victory similarly in New Jersey for her first LPGA title.

France's Celine Boutier matched the low round of her career with a bogey-free eight-under par 63 on Sunday to capture the LPGA ShopRite Classic, winning her first US title.

The 27-year-old closed with two birdies in her last three holes to finish the 54-hole event on 14-under 199 at Seaview Bay in Galloway, New Jersey.

Celine Boutier birdied two of her last three holes for an 8-under 63 and won the ShopRite LPGA Classic on Sunday when South Korea's best two players faltered down the stretch Sunday.

Starting the final round five shots behind, Boutier ran off six birdies on the front nine of the windy Bayside Course at Seaview to join a growing list of contenders.

The 27-year-old from France holed a 12-foot birdie putt on No. 16 and then birdied the par-5 18th from 5 feet to set the target at 14-under 199.  Read more

They seem to be matching each other shot for shot at the ShopRite LPGA Classic presented by Acer. Jin Young Ko and Inbee Park, Nos. 2 and 3 in the Rolex Rankings, respectively, have both recorded rounds of 66-65 on the Bay Course at Seaview, a Dolce Hotel. And both have secured 13 birdies, 21 pars and two bogeys to reach 11-under par overall and share the 36-hole advantage.

One differing factor between the two 6-under 65s on Saturday: Ko faced light breezes in the morning, while Park battled gusting winds throughout the afternoon.  Read more

Eleven of the last 15 winners on the Bay Course at Seaview, a Dolce Hotel have fired 67 or better in the first round. Nineteen players fell into that category on Friday in Galloway, N.J., led by a 6-under par 65 performances from So Yeon Ryu and Jodi Ewart Shadoff. 

“I made a birdie-birdie start, after that it was a bit slow,” said Ryu, making her first start in the ShopRite Classic since 2017. “I did make an eagle on No. 3...."

Ewart Shadoff not only matched Ryu in score, but she also carded an eagle on the par-5 third to reach the mark.  Read more

Nasa Hataoka wins NW Arkansas; Minjee Lee tied second

After a final-round 67, Nasa Hataoka earned her second title of the season at the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship presented by P&G on Sunday. Off in the morning with 36-hole co-leader Minjee Lee and Eun-Hee Ji, Hataoka hung on for her fifth-career LPGA Tour victory and second win in Rogers, Ark., after becoming a Rolex First-Time Winner in 2018 at Pinnacle Country Club.  Read more

Nasa Hataoka, a 22-year-old from Japan, shot a final-round 4-under 67 to finish at 16-under.

She three-putted the par-5 18th hole after reaching the green in two, having to make a 3-footer for par after rolling her first putt 15 feet past the hole.

Lee, one shot back in the same group, ripped a long drive down the centre, but went with a 5-iron from 196 yards that finished well short of the elevated green.  Read more

After a pair of aces in two days, Nasa Hataoka couldn’t have made it look easier to start the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship.
